CLASSES

We offer a range of classes to suit all levels of experience

Classes at Haxby Pilates Studio York are designed for all levels - beginners up to advanced, with a bespoke timetable to reflect. 

If you are new to Pilates or have any health or mobility issues, please contact the studio for an initial discussion prior to booking classes. Before attending a Reformer session as a new client, a 1:1 induction to the equipment will be required.  

If you are uncertain which class or level is right for you, please get in touch and we will be delighted to discuss options in more detail and what is appropriate for your needs.

REFORMER PILATES

The Reformer is an incredibly versatile piece of equipment that can be used to address virtually every part of the body. It accommodates a full range of motion whilst working against resistance, building muscular strength and endurance as well as increasing flexibility. Classes last 1 hour with a maximum of 6 people.

MAT 

Mat pilates improves flexibility, strength, posture and alignment. With a strong focus on form, core strength and Pilates movement principles, it uses body weight plus a range of props for a balanced full body workout.  

BARRE 

Barre class combines Pilates and ballet for a challenging but fun workout. Moving to music with Pilates principles you will work on cardio endurance, strength and flexibility. This is a mixed ability class so all welcome with no prior experience needed. 

Classes last 45 minutes with a maximum of 8 people.

CLASS LEVELS

BEGINNERS

If you are new to the Reformer, following your introductory 1:1 session we offer the option of the Beginners class to progress and expand your repertoire of exercises, gradually building up the pace and intensity.

LEVEL 1

This is our standard level class which builds from Beginners level to cover a wide array of basic reformer exercises. It also moves into more progressive and challenging exercises tailored to those in the class.

LEVEL 2

his intermediate builds on exercises encountered at Level 1 but provides greater challenge with more diverse exercises and an increased intensity.

LEVEL 3

For experienced pilates practitioners, these classes offer a challenging session which will include some of the most difficult exercises. You should feel proficient and confident using the Reformer.

GENTLE

For people who are comfortable with the majority of Level 1 exercises but at a slightly lighter intensity level and easier pace.

PRIVATE SESSIONS

You may prefer the format of a 1:1, 1:2 or more session where the session can be tailored more specifically to your individual needs and ability. Please contact us hello@haxbypilates.com to arrange a session.
